    This image is an example of portrait photography. It appears to be an old, personal family photo with an image of someone else layed on top of it. The light in this image is natural but also has a sort of yellow hue that could have been intentional or a result of the equipment used to take it or possibly the result of the aging of the original image. The colors in this image in the background(and the foreground in the case of the large plant to the right) are somewhat muted and unnoticeable in comparison to the pink of the two women’s dresses. This makes them stand out as the clear subject of the image. The two women are placed to the far right of the image and somewhere between middle ground and foreground. Everything about this image seems to direct your eye to these two women. Even the plant in the foreground is positioned so as to not interfere with the observer’s gaze.

    I interpret this image as having something to do with generational differences within families. The fact that the translucent women to the far right is intentionally dressed and posed in a very similar to the woman from the original image relates the two in some way. It seems as though the woman from the original image may be the mother or grandmother or aunt of the second since so much effort is made to make them appear similar. The dresses they wear look nearly and seem to be hand me downs which further establishes their connection. Their posing and expressions are very similar as well. The woman from the original image slightly more closed off and turned away from the camera and the second facing the camera almost head on but with her head turned away. They both appear sad or distressed which could represent that they share similar struggles at similar points in their lives, but as different people and parts of different generations, confront them differently.
